9pm park on an off street of 45th in Wallingford and head to a nearby bar, Sea Monster. hang out, talk to friends, have beers, see burlesque (AND NO COVER!!!).
12pm head to the car and prepare for the drive back the Eastside. What is that on the dash!? A parking Ticket!!!?
Apparently it was zone 5 only parking from 5pm tp 12am. I didnt see the sign. $44! the best part, is that they gave me the ticket TEN MINUTES after I had parked! WTF!!? why the hell are they patrolling the streets at 9pm on a tuesday looking for non-zone tagged cars!? Come on!! that's a bunch of BS!!! ugh!!! so that no cover sure came in handy i guess since it cost me $44 + beers this evening. and the worst part is, because of a series of mishaps, I didnt even get to see Adam tonight, nor did he get to see everyone else, like we had planned. :(

UPDATED!!!
so i was wondering if people would be interested in going to dinner and then maybe have a small gathering afterwards on Friday night on the Eastside. Doesnt have to be a big affair, like all out party or anything. Heck, i'd LOVE to play some board games, actually!
I talked with Ben and unfortunately his place is out of the question as his brother, sister-in-law and nephew are in town. we could have people over at my place but it'd have to be low key.
so yeah, maybe Olive Garden? This Friday! what d'ya say?

so i heard about this last night and thought that CAN'T possibly be true. but sure enough!!! so if you put the safe search filter on google and type in the word clitoris. you get ZERO results! however, type in penis (41,500,000 results), vagina (21,700,000 results), or even gspot (7,140,000 results- even one that reads "Information on stimulating the female G-Spot to orgasm.") and you get tons! apparently clitoris is a dirty word. kinda lame if you ask me!

I managed to pack my skates and gear as well and have managed to strap on my skates three days now and been around the neighborhood. i am sooo thankful cuz i freaking LOVE skating and am determined to keep in shape while i am away from my normal routine.
anyway, wishing everyone a merry christmas (or whatever you celebrate) and a happy new year!! here's to a successful 2009!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the casa,
not a creature was stirring. ¡Caramba! ¿Qué pasa?
Los niños were tucked away en su cama,
some in long underwear, some en pijama.
They hung up their stockings con mucho cuidado
in hopes that old Santa would feel obligado
to bring all the children, both buenos y malos,
a nice batch of dulces y otros regalos.
Outside in the yard there arose such a grito
that I jumped to my feet like a frightened cabrito.
I ran to the window and looked out afuera
and who in the world do you think quien era?
Saint Nick in a sleigh and a big red sombrero
came dashing along like a crazy bombero,
and pulling his sleigh instead of venados
were eight little burros approaching volados.
I watched as they came and this quaint little hombre
was shouting and whistling and calling by nombre:
“¡Ay Pancho, ay Pepe, ay Cuco, ay Beto,
Ay Chato, ay Chopo, Macuco, y Nieto!”
Then standing erect with his hands on his pecho
he flew to the top of our very own techo.
With his round little belly like a bowl of jalea
he struggled to squeeze down our old chiminea.
Then huffing and puffing at last in our sala
with soot smeared all over his red suit de gala,
he filled all the stockings with lovely regalos
for none of the niños had been very malos.
Then chuckling aloud, seeming very contento
he turned like a flash and was gone like the viento.
And I heard him exclaim and this is verdad,
“¡Merry Christmas to all, and Feliz Navidad!”

omg!!! along with choco bacon and bacon pancakes, I MUST try making this for my family while i am home for the holidays! yum, yum, yum!!! :)

Monkey bread is a classic holiday treat because 1) you pull it apart with your hands, and that’s just plain fun, and 2) it works for everything: brunch, dessert, kids’ parties, and, frankly, as a late-night snack after one too many hot toddies. But can perfection be improved upon? In my opinion, yes!
Chunky monkey bread might just outshine the original version. To me, the combination of chocolate, bananas and walnuts is like sweet heaven. Add in brown sugar and cinnamon, and all my holiday stress just melts away.
Chunky Monkey Bread
- 40 refrigerated biscuits or dinner rolls from four cans (do not use buttermilk rolls)
- 1 ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or 1 12-ounce bag)
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 stick butter
- 4 ripe bananas, pureed
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350°. Cut biscuits in half and push a few chocolate chips inside each half. Pinch closed with fingers. Give each a quick roll between the palms of your hands to form a round shape. Mix ½ cup sugar with cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Roll each ball in mixture to coat, and set aside.
To make banana-caramel sauce, melt butter in small saucepan over medium heat until foamy, about 1 minute. Add in banana puree and stir until combined. Add brown sugar and stir to dissolve, then let boil for about 1 minute.
Spray bundt pan with non-stick spray. Pour one third of banana-caramel sauce in bottom of pan, then sprinkle with ¼ cup each of chocolate chips and walnuts. Arrange balls in a single layer in bundt pan. Pour another third of banana-caramel sauce over, and sprinkle with ½ cup of chocolate chips and ¼ cup walnuts. Arrange second layer of balls on top, and pour remaining sauce, chocolate chips and walnuts on top. Bake for 35 minutes, then let cool for 15 minutes, and serve.

so rat city tryouts came and went. the 6 week derby camp was an amazing experience and I am sooo glad to have done it. it was a great learning experience and I have come a long way since Feb. who knew way back when that i would have made it sooo far!! and also a BIG thanks to the people that helped Helena and I get there!!! and i know, i know, i need to send my thank you gifts...
last night we skated our hearts out and I was priveledged enough to get a call back to return the next day for interviews. I interviewed with Grave Danger and Throttle Rockets. They both went really well and I was torn on which I would like better but either way, i know it would have been the right fit and I would have been happy. In the end, i was one of the few that didnt get picked up. there just werent enough slots and unfortunately everyone was just so damn good!!! so it is back to PFM for me and i'll keep at it and see what happens come June! and I am looking forward to helping all my PFM gals to be better skaters too! it of course sucks to be rejected but I know everything happens for a reason and right now is just not my time. and it is almost a relief in a way as derby is such a HUGE committment and very time consuming. so i am VERY excited for my gals that made it (12 total) this time around and I commiserate with my fellow skaters that didnt make it. i guess that tattoo will have to wait.. lol! :)
fyi, Rat City is for sure playing at the KEY ARENA next season. thanks sonics for leaving!!! :) the first bout is Feb 7th! be there or be square!!!!!!!!!

Just felt like sharing this poem. May it inspire and brighten your spirits! Enjoy! Wish everyone the best and hope you have a good day! :)
Ode
We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.
With wonderful deathless ditties,
We build up the world's great cities,
And out of a fabulous story
We fashion an empire's glory:
One man with a dream, at pleasure,
Shall go forth and conquer a crown;
And three with a new song's measure
Can trample an empire down.
We, in the ages lying
In the buried past of earth,
Built Nineveh with our sighing,
And Babel itself with our mirth;
And o'erthrew them with prophesying
To the old of the new world's worth;
For each age is a dream that is dying,
Or one that is coming to birth.
A breath of our inspiration,
Is the life of each generation.
A wondrous thing of our dreaming,
Unearthly, impossible seeming-
The soldier, the king, and the peasant
Are working together in one,
Till our dream shall become their present,
And their work in the world be done.
They had no vision amazing
Of the goodly house they are raising.
They had no divine foreshowing
Of the land to which they are going:
But on one man's soul it hath broke,
A light that doth not depart
And his look, or a word he hath spoken,
Wrought flame in another man's heart.
And therefore today is thrilling,
With a past day's late fulfilling.
And the multitudes are enlisted
In the faith that their fathers resisted,
And, scorning the dream of tomorrow,
Are bringing to pass, as they may,
In the world, for it's joy or it's sorrow,
The dream that was scorned yesterday.
But we, with our dreaming and singing,
Ceaseless and sorrowless we!
The glory about us clinging
Of the glorious futures we see,
Our souls with high music ringing;
O men! It must ever be
That we dwell, in our dreaming and singing,
A little apart from ye.
For we are afar with the dawning
And the suns that are not yet high,
And out of the infinite morning
Intrepid you hear us cry-
How, spite of your human scorning,
Once more God's future draws nigh,
And already goes forth the warning
That ye of the past must die.
Great hail! we cry to the corners
From the dazzling unknown shore;
Bring us hither your sun and your summers,
And renew our world as of yore;
You shall teach us your song's new numbers,
And things that we dreamt not before;
Yea, in spite of a dreamer who slumbers,
And a singer who sings no more.

Bruise so good!!! :D
thanks to helena i had that stuck in my head this afternoon, but it is soooo true so i wanted to share. last night we practiced hip checks. i was having a hell of a time with them as i (an many others) tend to prefer leaning in with the shoulders first instead of the hips. which i find odd as i can swing my hips whilst dancing and hip check a car door into submission but hip checking a girl on skates is sooo tricky! just another on the list of things to work on. and we hip checked each other and the wall so many times last night that i have small bruises on either sides of my hips! sweet! :)
